The procedures below govern the procedure for financial aid awards to applicants wishing to participate with the Northern Virginia Hockey Club during the 2010-2011 season.

Applicants must submit a completed financial aid application and all supporting documentation to the Scholarship Review Committee no later than September 1, 2010 (postmarked).

The Scholarship Review Committee appointed by the NoVA Board of Directors will evaluate each aid request based upon the completed application and available funds. Need will be assessed based upon the application and supporting materials submitted.

For the 2010-2011 season, partial awards will be available for players playing in the House and Travel programs, as well as Initiation and Cross-Ice Programs. Recipients will be required to finance up to 20% of the cost of the applicable program.

The Scholarship Review Committee will make scholarship recommendations to the NoVA Board at regularly scheduled board meetings. Such recommendations shall include all relevant supporting detail and information.

The NoVA Board of Directors will receive recommendations from the Scholarship Review Committee and, at its discretion, may award financial grants.

Applicants will be notified in writing within two weeks of the Board’s decision.

Notice of the completion of the financial aid process for the 2010-2011 will be posted on the NoVA website.
Only applications completed in full and submitted on time will be considered.
