NOVA Wins CBHL Peewee Wales Playoff Championship !!!

After winning the CBHL Peewee Wales Regular Season Championship, Coach Emhof and Coach Donohue's Peewee team traveled to Hagerstown MD and won the Wales Division Playoffs. In the Semi-final game, NOVA and Bowie were tied 3-3 after regulation. Four minutes into overtime, NOVA was able to score to secure their ticket to the Championship game. In the Championship, NOVA faced Hagerstown who defeated Reston 4-1 in the other Semi-final. Both teams fought hard but Hagerstown scored first - two minutes into the opening period. Fortunately for NOVA the defense and goaltending held on for the rest of the game as NOVA was out shot 22-13. Down 1-0 in the second period, NOVA got a break during a penalty kill as they caught Hagerstown on a change and scored shorthanded. The period ended with the game tied at 1-1. The defensive battle continued through the third period until, NOVA found themselves on a 2 on 1 rush that ended in a beautiful top shelf goal. NOVA held on to win the game 2-1 and the Wales Championship!!

The Peewee team finished the regular season with a 14-1-3 league record and is the first NOVA team since 2007-2008 to win the Regular Season and Playoffs. Congratulations to the Players, Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Manager Laura Lee for an outstanding year!!
